TOTP - Top Ten Things That You Will Find On Darth Vaders Belt

We got a list from 'The Batman' (not the real batman) detailing things found on Darth Vaders belt, we didn't have a clue what any of the things were on todays show, but we carried on regardless:-

If anyone actually knows what on earth these items are then feel free put some comments on our board and enlighten us.

A “Staples Easy Button”, comes from a ad campaign currently airing in the US. Staples is a brand of office supply store. In the ad's the “easy button” takes what would normally a difficult task and makes it “easy', hence the name. Here is one of the examples I found on youtube.

Also, a easy bake oven is a child's toy oven. They have some sort of heat device in them to allow them to bake (poorly). They are generally marketed as girl toys so I never played with, or saw how well they preformed. Even knowing what it is, I think it was a stupid addition to the list.

Hey, Judy! EasyBake Ovens have nothin' on a couple of cell phones. Check out http://www.foodconsumer.org/777/8/

(I never had an EasyBake, but I do have a bunch of old phones...)

Rob and Jon...
Acme Rocket Boots are, I'm sure, one of the many defective materials described in the lawsuit 'Acme v. Coyote': "Mr. Coyote states that on eighty-five separate occasions he has purchased of the Acme Company (hereinafter, "Defendant"), through that company's mail-order department, certain products which did cause him bodily injury due to defects in manufacture or improper cautionary labelling." [from a short story by Ian Frazier, 1996]

Unfortunately, the aforementioned lawsuit describes only the problems with the Acme Rocket Sled, the Acme Rocket Skates, the Acme Bomb, and the Acme Spring-Powered Shoes.

meep, meep

You two are hereby awarded the Kenneth Williams memorial trophy for your wonderful Darth Vader's helmet double-entendre ;-)

Certainly made me snort loudly on the bus trying to contain the giggles this morning !

Oh yes... your beeped-out mention of the word f**ny ! My Mum went into a shop in the US and asked for a 'bum bag', which caused some consternation as they thought she wanted a tramp's carrier-bag and was somehow trying to take the mickey out of them. When they told her she should be asking for a 'f**ny-pack', she was disgusted at their language and stormed out ;-)

Just as confusing whilst in the States was my brother saying that he was nipping out for a fag (which somewhat ruined his reputation with the ladies) !!

Ahhh... language. You can tell why I got an Honours degree in English Language and Linguistics, can't you ?

Hi Rob & Jon,
Another great show!

With regard to Acme Rocket boots, If the coyote can afford to buy rocket boots, why doesn't he just buy lunch, instead of trying to catch road runner?
It kinda defies logical narrative.

The show was great and the list was weird/great. You guys really could talk about anything and I'd listen...

I hope the ratings pick up to reflect how great your show is, but hey just have fun and the people will come. Remember Podcasting is still in its infancy, this medium is about to explode. The potential is huge. Just keep on, hanging on.
Interactive shows such as yours are the start.

The "do not remove" tag in the US refers to the label on new mattresses. It says something like "do not remove under penalty of law". It's some regulation to keep the mattress salesaman honest - like nutrition labels on food.

The Half Show is rubbish!? Nice show John and Rob. And to everyone else: "You don't know the power of the Top of the Pods!"

Libsyn account has been suspended, waiting for them to get back to us. We got some shows but no hosting.

Grant - Three From Leith said...

Have you been naughty ? Was it talking about Darth Vader's helmet that upset Libsyn ?

You really don't have much luck with them, do you ?

Hope you get it sorted soon, guys.
