Rowley, Rowley, Rowley!! No "The Day the Earth Caught Fire"? No Metropolis? No european sci-fi at all? Tsk tsk tsk! :-)

And where is Silent Running...??? That may be an old film, from 1972, but for me it ushered in the space sci-fi genre. And the idea of a spacecraft-cum-greenhouse given over to the preservation of plantlife which had largely disappeared on Earth was a compelling one...

The Star Trek film with Picard and the "cyborgs" [it's the Borg] is Star Trek : First Contact, if you didn't get it [I'm halfway through listening the now]

Metropolis was up there, but didn't quite make it. Spaceballs in my opinion was spoilt by John Candy, that role should have been acted by Dan Ackroyd.

Oh, Silent running ... I've always found that one depressing when I always think SciFi should really be exciting. I do like Silent Running, probably oe of the first SciFi films I saw.

Silent Running? What does a film about a Jamaican Bobsleigh team have to do with scifi? At least it starred John Candy.

Obviously a popular show - as I write at 12:43 on 16 Nov, you appear to have 0 listeners via Feedburner !!!

Funny, I don't remember unsubbing last night....

No... Silent Running as in this film... You are thinking of Cool Runnings...! :-)

They say that John Candy was as much fun and as likeable in real life as he was in his films - such a pity he died so young... Definitely my favourite actor.

What a weird film that was, The Langoliers... Aha, have just seen that it was based on a Stephen King novel - that explains it all ;-)

Rob, how come f*rt makes you go all funny and prudish yet talking about getting into Sigourney's knickers doesn't ? There's a field day in there for a psychologist I'm sure ;-)

Somewhere on this list should be "Cube." Now there's a great horror/sci-fi film. Is that available over in the UK?

Cube was awesome! That really creeped me out, the second one leaves you thinking as they throw time travel into the equasion though. Interesting ending too.

Ah! Cube 2 was HORRID! But Cube Zero was quite good, and redeemed how horrid the second one was. Still, a good concept, worthy of placement in a top ten list of some kind.

The top 5 of the list works but I would have excluded the others. On my list would have been Aliens(the third movie) and the Tom Cruise movie where he plays a cop in the future that tracks down murderers. I cannot think of the title, though I have seen the movie several times.
